Two Different Covers for Burn Me Deadly by Alex Bledsoe

I don't really have much commentary to add to this post. I just happened to be searching for the ebook of Burn Me Deadly by Alex Bledsoe on the Barnes & Noble website (Amazon has a pre-order for it, but the Kindle version is almost $17!. Lately, it seems Amazon is pricing Tor ebooks around 15 bucks, but B&N, when they have them, are only 9.99). I didn't see a pre-order for the ebook, but I did see listings for the audio book. What struck me as interesting about this, is how different the 2 covers are. Is it common for audio books to have different cover art than the print edition? Is there any significance in regards to the audio cover looking way more mainstream than the print cover? Anyway, I thought someone out there besides me might find this interesting :)

Note: the first (top) image is the hardcover book, the second (bottom) image is the audiobook cover.

How bizarre that they're so different. I admit it: I'm shallow and a book cover can make a difference in whether I pick something up off the shelf at the store and take a look at it. I'd totally pick up a book with the second cover and give it a once-over... but I would be unlikely to randomly pick up a book with the first cover. How strange.

I have to admit I'd never pick the book up with the second cover.

interesting..2 comments, and the score is 1 for each cover. I can't break the tie..i actually like both of them equally. I like traditional fantasy covers, but i also like the more vague/mainstream covers too (like the new Chronicles of the Raven covers, or the George R.R. Martin covers)

Oh I love the Raven covers and the Martin ones are okay. It's just this second one reminds me of a mystery set in Ireland.

Yeah, the first one is for the fantasy reader and the second is for...mystery / romance readers? It's obviously tagging a different audience market than the first...which is all what covers are for anyway, to sell the book.

I like both, but knowing what the series is like the first is probably more appropriate. I picked up the first Bledsoe book recently because of your recommendation. Seems right up my alley.
